Set against monochrome backgrounds, painter Edward del Rosario’s fairytale-like scenes depict people counterposed with nature in charmingly unsettling ways. The Brooklyn-based artist has been exploring the subject for the past eight years, each piece adding to a larger meta-narrative that explores the “aftermath of a post-colonial world.” His latest installment of curious paintings will show at L.A.’s Richard Heller gallery in the upcoming exhibition simply titled “Fable.”

VW lets you test drive their print ad. Using augmented reality, the user downloads an app and test drives directly in the print ad. The ad was displayed in several of the most popular print publications in Norway. The ad also works online and you can take a test drive by clicking on the images on the site after installing the app on your phone. Very cool way to demo lane assist and cruise control.

McKinney Agency and Sherwin Williams launches a new advertising campaign celebrating a world made entirely of color chips. The launch effort consists of three tv commercials (directed by Buck NY), four print ads (created by paper artist Matthew Sporzynski), online advertising, an iPhone app and an interactive Color Visualizer. The tagline: “Make the most of your color with the very best paint.”

“We’re excited to have created a campaign that’s brand-focused storytelling through art. We were able to take what Sherwin-Williams is known for – expertise, advice and the world’s best paint – and leverage it against an emotionally resonant story about color, using the single most important element in most painting decisions: the color chip.”

Elizabeth Harmon’s Bike Through Winter is such a simple idea, but amazing. Even though I don’t bike in the winter, I appreciate her design aesthetic. It’s full of awesome Feltron style graphs and great info.
